California legislature does nothing as financial doom looms

California State Controller John Chiang said Friday he will stop making income tax refunds and vendor payments starting tomorrow because the legislature and governor have been unable to decide on a budget.

“Nobody will lend to the state of California today because we have a $42 billion deficit and we have no sound plan by the legislature or the governor,” Chiang said at an economic luncheon in Dana Point.

The California legislature needs to get on the clue train before the streets of Sacramento are filled with peasants with pitchforks. The general populace is tired of and angry of special interests squealing and doing nothing while the state goes down the financial drain.

They need to get their heads out of their asses long enough to put the common good first, however briefly, and however bizarre a concept that might seem to them.
