That early story about severe torture against Jewish and Israeli hostages by Mumbai terrorists was widely circulated even though it originally appeared from just one obscure source, and was not confirmed. Now, a report from the Jerusalem Post says there was no torture, quoting a doctor who examined the bodies.
In the fog of war, bizarre stories appear. I never quite believed the original report and the JPost say it was from “an unnamed doctor from an unspecified hospital.”
Yet the original story went all over the world with little attempt to confirm it.
