  1. American ingenuity at its finest – recycling is not just for plastics and cans – 30 years ago I stripped an old water heater to its tank, welded it to a length of 6″ pipe and stood it up in concrete. Around it, with a 2″ rigid foam sheet, I taped and glued an angled frame which reflexs sunlight onto the tank all day long (similar principle to a solar oven) – the unit heats water so hot one cannot stand under it in a shower and I have been using it all these years. Total cost – $32.00.
