New look and feel

Let me know what you think.

This new theme for Polizeros takes advantage of the latest release of WordPress, v 2.2, which supports widgets. Widgets are what you see in the left hand column. In the old version, these had to be hand-coded, now it’s just drag-and-drop from the Control Panel.  Way cool.

  1. Nice clean lines — thats’ the real plus with WordPress. I find I gravitate towards WordPress inspired templates. Your banner is a bit empty — or too big.

The only diff I find in utility from the old theme is that the font is smaller — but since it is very contrasty and stands out thats’ no big deal.

There’s a debate elsewhere (and always!)about WordPress vs Blogger and as a blogger I’ve considered the pros and cons. For me the issue comes down to three points:
    (1) Blogger can be easily hacked and the hacks available are fun to play & experiment with.
(2)Wordpress when I was using it was very limiting in what it would accept in way of java and multimedia embeds.
    (3) Most blogs I read and relate to are on Blogger so it’s a peer and culture thing.

But WordPress looks cleaner, probably loads faster and offers easier display of extras and attributes…AND it is true that I spend a lot of time trying to make my blogs look like WordPress! But thats’ half the fun!

  2. Thanks. I’ll be tweaking the banner, yes, it is a bit empty.

WP has hundreds of plugins now, it can do multimedia and lots more stuff too.

There’s hundreds of themes. The tricky part about customizing themes is understanding php, css, and how they relate. The current theme here was based on the Mountain theme and tweaked a fair amount.

    And here’s the widgets!

  3. Nice look. On the subject of font, the smaller font is a bit of a strain on the bifocals…

BTW, I use QuickBlog. It’s easy and supports “widgets,” but doesn’t handle trackbacks very well.
