The US tried to kill Al-Sadr by luring him to a house for peace talks then attacking him.

Astounding… but not unprecedented. The U.S. did the same to Chief Osceola during the Second Seminole War.
In this case, though, it appears (especially in hindsight) to be another case of complete idiocy by the Bush Administration. After all, could such a plot have been hatched and executed without approval from the highest echelons?
