Appeal for Redress

Appeal for Redress

Appeal for Redress is active duty U.S. military and reserves who oppose the war in Iraq and want to bring the troops home now.

The organizing they do is legal under DoD directives, and they are growing fast.

The wording of the Appeal for Redress is short and simple. It is patriotic and respectful in tone.

As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from Iraq . Staying in Iraq will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for U.S. troops to come home.

Jonathan Hutto Sr., Navy Petty Officer Third Class and co-Founder of the Appeal for Redress spoke at an ANSWER Connecticut meeting last night that was preparation for the Bush protest at the Coast Guard Academy in New London this Wednesday. The idea for the group came from military-based groups opposed to the Vietnam war in the 60’s and 70’s. Not only do they organize against the Iraq War, they provide support to vets, and work with Iraq Veterans Against the War, Veterans For Peace, and Military Families Speak Out.
