Thoughts on turning 58

They can take the Yankee out of Connecticut but even after 35 years away, my accent is still Northeast, according to the quite accurate “What American accent do you have?” quiz.

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

I turned 58 a few days ago. Not quite sure how that happened. I don’t look or act 58. Don’t feel that way either. People never guess my age. Someone at the health club recently thought I was 45, this happens all the time. So, for any of you in your teens or early twenties who are upset because you ‘look young’, cheer up, you will have the last laugh…

Being an activist helps keep you young because you’re around all ages and types of people and things tend to move fast and be tumultuous. I’m already making activist links for when we move to Connecticut. Can’t imagine not being in the movement.

That’s the key, I think, find something bigger than yourself to be involved with.
