The Topanga Peace Alliance is sponsoring a series of forums in L.A. on uniting the Left. They are a great, active group, are at every antiwar demonstration, enthusiastic, with their huge banner flying.
Santa Monica City Councilmember Kevin McKeown addressed one of these forums, and posted a short video. He spoke of how antiwar sentiment has gone mainstream now, and that we do enjoy broad-based support. However, the electoral system is broken, and public funding of campaigns and proportional representation are the solutions to a system where corporations and big money dictate the rules.
Kevin, a friend, is also a member of the National Committee of the Green Party and the Co-ordinating Committee of the Green Party of California. Would it be that all elected politicians were as hard-working and ethical as he is. If we work at it, maybe one day they will be.
