World Council of Churches says US out of Iraq!
The World Council of Churches (WCC) ended its meeting in Geneva with a call for American and coalition forces to withdraw from Iraq and transfer matters to the United Nations.
The Council, which represents 342 Protestant and Orthodox denominations and church groups, said the invasion of Iraq was “immoral, ill advised” and bad for Christian-Muslim relations. The Council also called on the American and British governments to pay reparations to the Iraqi people for the damage caused by the war.
The WCC is a huge mainstream religious organization representing over 400 million members. Note the unequivocal language – US out of Iraq, US should pay reparations. This is major news, the mainstream is now opposing the war(s).
