Hollywood rally
Yes, the crowds at the worldwide peace rallies this wekend were smaller than the past few times. Events got ahead of us. Some think the war is over. It’s not. Also, occupation is not liberation – not that liberation ever really was a goal. However, I’ve no doubt that the insanities of the chickenhawks will drive huge numbers people back into the streets again, and sooner rather than later.
The Rev. James Lawson spoke at the Hollywood rally. He’s a retired Black minister who has been working for peace since WWII, and who spent 15 months in federal prison in 1951 for refusing to fight in the Korean War. It’s inspirational to hear from someone with so many decades of hardcore peace organizing.
