According to NPR, most government buildings in Baghdad have been looted and burned. So even when some semblance of order is restored, Iraq will have no functioning governmental structures, because you can’t have a government when there are no operational offices.
Further, Baghdad, a city of five million, still has no electricity or potable water. The fear is the mobs of looters may soon turn on businesses and private homes if things don’t get better fast.
An who, may I ask, was the genius who determined that destroying the electricity and water infrastructure of Baghdad was a good way to win the hearts and minds of the residents?
We also did nothing as the National Musuem, with its priceless artifacts, was ransacked and destroyed.
