The Peace Watch program today on Pacifica radio station KPFK had a report from an American reporter in Iraq. He was with the Baath Party when they were listening to Colin Powell’s speech live from the U.N. At one point Powell played three excerpts of conversations between Iraqi military he said were intercepted by U.S. intelligence.
When the second excerpt started playing, every Iraqi in the room – military, media, onlookers – began laughing. Why? Because, they said, the accent of one speaker was so over the top and exaggerated it was obviously a fake…
