Yahoo gets snoopy

Yahoo gets snoopy

From an activist friend

Yahoo is now using something called “Web Beacons” to track Yahoo Group users around the net and see what you’re doing. It’s similar to cookies but apparently oh-so-much-more insidious. <These are invisible one pixel graphics files that trigger code, in Yahoo’s case, code that tracks you by cookies>

Here’s the spot for you to opt out and review their updated privacy statement…

About half-way down the page, in the section “Outside the Yahoo! Network”, you’ll see a little “click here” link that will let you opt- out of their new method of snooping. I recommend you do it.

CAREFUL: In my opinion, the confirmation page is designed to confuse you – when you get the next screen there’s a button that, if clicked, will *undo* the opt-out.
