3D printed horseshoes, custom fit to race horse

3d-printed-horseshoes
These 3D printed titanium horseshoes are half the weight of traditional aluminum horseshoes, which means the horse may well run faster.

The titanium shoes were produced for a particular horse: its hooves were 3D scanned in detail with a handheld scanner. The 3D capture was used to engineer new horseshoes that fit the horse perfectly. Four shoes were produced in only a couple of hours.

Perhaps one day human orthotics will be 3D printed, as well as shoes. Oh, wait, shoes already are.
