Stunning net zero shipping container house in Colorado

Net-Zero-Colorado-Container-Home

Who knew a shipping container house could be so gorgeous, and net zero too? This is smart design in multiple ways, look and feel, livability, sustainability.

This Nederland, Colorado container home, designed by Studio H:T, performs at net-zero energy consumption by utilizing passive strategies of insulation and orientation, active solar photovoltaic and thermal systems, and the harvesting of on-site renewable fuel (timber is selectively and sustainably cleared to burn in the high-efficiency wood stove).

A center space between two shipping containers, creates areas for entry, living, and dining, with a loft deck that facilitates outdoor sleeping on a rolling platform bed and a green roof provides for insulation and water efficiency measures.
