I think George Zimmerman unlawfully killed Trayvon Martin and a conviction will be nearly impossible to get, especially now since  star prosecution witness Rachel Jeantel essentially self-destructed on the witness stand today. I don’t blame her as much as the prosecution, who appear to be emulating the nitwit prosecution in the OJ murder trial in terms of cluelessness and stupidity.  We await the ‘OJ putting on the gloves’ moment in this disaster of a trial.
Rachel Jeantel was a train wreck as a witness. She did not help the state’s case. She exposed the manipulations of Team Crump. She was impeached on a few significant matters. And she admitted multiple lies. It was cringe-worthy but you couldn’t take your eyes off it.

It seems the middle-aged white men on both sides of this case are totally unaware of what Rachel’s life is like – a 19-year-old high school student of Haitian descent who knows nothing more than the few block radius she has grown up in. The cultural differences here are exponential.

Don West doesn’t understand why Rachel didn’t call the police when she heard a struggle. Rachel, who is a black woman, doesn’t call the police. Why? Black people and police officers don’t mix.
I agree with much of what they say. But it’s irrelevant to the trial and to getting a conviction.
It’s tragic to see how ignorant a white majority is in relation to the life and communication processes of the Black culture. Rachel wasn’t terribly artlilculate by white middle class standards, but deeply moving in much of her testimony. I’m holding a wait and see attitude on this one.
It’s not her communication style that bothers me. It’s that she was caught lying several times which pretty much kills her credibility.
