Offshore wind creeping towards reality on east coast

This sounds promising, plans to construct new transmission lines to handle power generated by wind turbines off the New Jersey coast. But construction won’t start until 2016, with the offshore wind turbines presumably constructed after the grid can handle it. So it’ll be a while until the electricity starts flowing. This assumes the usual motley crew of neanderthal Republicans and rich Democratic greenies who are mortally offended by turbines marring Their Coastal View (and the view is theirs alone, you understand) don’t wallpaper the project with NIMBY lawsuits.
