Carmageddon returns to Los Angeles

The 405 freeway in Los Angeles will be completely shut down all this coming weekend in Sepulveda Pass as a bridge is torn down and other construction occurs. This, the second and final Carmageddon, is bigger than the previous one as major surface streets in the area will be closed or narrowed too. This section of the 405 is a crucial link between the Westside and the San Fernando Valley.

The previous Carmageddon went uneventfully as everyone did the sensible thing and stayed home for the weekend. Let’s hope history repeats itself and the demolition finished on time as scheduled. If Sepulveda Pass is still closed on Monday morning, the resultant traffic jam will corkscrew the entire LA freeway system.
