A chemist in the Massachusetts drug lab apparently deliberately tampered with drug evidence and thus over 34,000 convictions may now be called into question. There’s been no explanation as to why she did it either.
The chemist is accused of deliberately tampering with some drug samples, including the weight of the samples, which can affect the length of prison sentences given to people convicted of drug offenses.
No one had a clue of course and now sacrificial heads are rolling, including that of the Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner, who just resigned.
One wonders if anyone ever thought to have actual oversight of the drug labs or if this is just another example of our crumbling governmental structures everywhere.
