No Agenda podcast. Adam Curry and John Dvorak on politics

The No Agenda podcast is one of the best political podcasts around. Adam Curry (early MTV VJ and co-creator of podcasting) and John Dvorak (long time tech columnist) bring a steady stream of intelligent, highly skeptical, and often quite funny commentary about our deranged political system with our two parties of the 1% duopoly pretending to be different.

On the latest show, Dvorak ponders if both parties might want to actually lose the presidency, consider the economic train wreck that is coming. In particular, Dvorak thinks that Romney choosing Ryan as VP was a sign, intentional or not, that Romney doesn’t want to win.

Where will you be in the Civil War of 2016? Dvorak asks on his blog, in response to a retired colonel positing what the Army would do if the Tea Party took over a South Carolina town.

The article is a choppy patchwork of doctrinal jargon and liberal nightmare. The authors make a quasi-legal case for military action and then apply the Army’s Operating Concept 2016-2028 to the situation. They write bloodlessly that “once it is put into play, Americans will expect the military to execute without pause and as professionally as if it were acting overseas.” They claim that “the Army cannot disappoint the American people, especially in such a moment,” not pausing to consider that using such efficient, deadly force against U.S. citizens would create a monumental political backlash and severely erode government legitimacy.

Adam Curry is equally disenchanted with the status quo. Both are highly intelligent, have a great rapport, and No Agenda is absolutely worth listing to.
