The charade of medical marijuana

(Images are from the Metro Silicon Valley weekly semi-alt newspaper.)

Cannibis clubbing.” Yes, this is just totally for medicinal purposes (nudge nudge wink wink.)

Seriously though, let’s just legalize it. The prices at the clinics are astronomically, um, high. Legalization would drop prices enormously. Then the government could tax it heavily. Everyone would be happy. The second image has an ad for 7 grams for $99. That’s $396 an ounce. If marijuana was legal, an ounce would probably be $40. Someone is making bankster-like profits on medical marijuana.

Quasi-legal medical marijuana invites organized crime to move in and no doubt they have already. The clinic stores may appear to be Mom and Pop businesses but if you track ownership up several levels, things are no doubt quite different. And a few levels above that are probably nasty people with guns.

The whole quasi-legality of medical marijuana is sleazy. Doctors grind out prescriptions for it without caring if there’s a genuine medical purpose. Laws are ignored. Banksters at the top ignore financial laws. Potheads at the bottom get fraudulent scripts from Dr. Feelgood.  It’s all part of the collapse of what used to be our social contract.

(For the record, I used to smoke copious amounts of weed and haven’t for many years.)

  1. I still smoke copious amounts of weed – the old fashioned way… I grow it myself. Don’t sell it, don’t buy it, grow it. The proliferation of card-holders waters down any potential “backlash”.

I won’t have a card though – it’s a red flag that i already have enough of as a V-Vet, old-school biker and all around hell-raiser. If pushed, simply having a card qualifies for a Driving while Under the Influence of Intoxicants. As it stands, though the cops know me, some clear back to high school, they don’t give a shit about an old man mindin’ his own damned business, and that’s just the way we want it. We’d all really rather they were arresting tweakers.

  2. Basically there are some shops that are still ripping off the consumer. The prices are cheaper than street prices, but typically these stores are making heavy profits by keeping the prices inflated.

Consider that street prices on top shelf marijuana is $60+ on average for 3.5 grams. So $99 for 7 grams is a good deal if you’re talking top shelf weed. I’ve seen places that have your typical “day pot” for as low as $125 an ounce. There are places here in Los Angeles, California that cap all their strains at $45 for 3.5 grams and some even do 4 or 5 grams for that price. So somebody running a 7 gram special for $99 is basically not that special.

I actually want to open co-op medical marijuana grow garden. So like for $100 or so a month plus metered electricity and water use, you can have a 5′ x 5′ partitioned space to grown your own plants.

  4. Folks,
    For your consideration,
I have posted the folowing links from the United Kingdom and Australia for your consideration to show you the truth about the terrible damage that marijuana abuse does to the human and especially our kids. My opponents ( who I refer to as drug addicted stoners) will try to sluff this off as propoganda. I hope you will read these articles and then ask yourselves, who is really telling you the truth, can you really rely on those who are addicted to drugs including marijuana to tell you the truth?

Climate change is happening, rube, so put down the Ambien, Prozac, Viagra and crotch-shots on Fox News Kool-Aid and turn off the television… you’re welcome to follow bare-footed a charismatic “leader” to suicide, but leave the rest of us out of it.
