The Innocence Project: Freeing those unjustly imprisoned

The Innocence Project uses DNA testing to free those wrongfully imprisoned and has aided in the release of over 250 people.

The photo says it all, Cornelius Dupree after being exonerated by a Texas judge. He spent thirty years in prison for crimes he did not commit.

The Innocence Project isn’t just about DNA. They also deal with mishandled evidence, prosecutorial misconduct,  and police withholding evidence. Also, a preponderance of those unjustly imprisoned are black and poor.

PS That’s Innocence Project co-founder Barry Scheck on the right. He first gained national attention as a member of O.J. Simpson’s defense team.
