Sacramento Delta water wars now at US Congress

The Sacramento Delta, where the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers meet, is ground zero for the California water wars. Everyone wants that water. A Republican Congressman is now sponsoring a bill to divert more of its water to agriculture in the Central Valley. Northern California real estate, recration, and commercial and sport fishing interests are screaming in protest.

Update: The bill has just passed the House. It faces a rougher future in the Senate and Obama says he’ll veto it.
