The Republicans will certainly attempt to make Solyndra and gun-walking major campaign issues. The gun-walking was a deranged idea and in my opinion those responsible should go to prison. At least 300 are dead in Mexico and the weapons used to kill them were allowed to be smuggle into the Mexico by ATF. A US Border Patrol agent was murdered and guns found nearby were also allowed to be smuggled.
I have no problem with the US funding R&D in new technologies as they did with Solyndra. After all, that’s how we got solar power and the Internet. But the sweetheart deal where the federal loan was made subordinate to a private loan made by entities controlled mostly by a big Democratic Party contributor doesn’t pass the smell test.
