Obama “will not take yes for an answer” on debt ceiling debate

“While it may be tempting for liberals to write this statement off as mere right-wing positioning, prominent liberal writers agree,”says Washington’s Blog, in a long, detailed post about Obama’s continual alliance with Wall Street Democrats against the rest of us.

Obama never was on the liberal / progressive side. That’s the key point. He has backed and supported Wall Street interests for years. He is not their lackey nor is this new. He is one of them. Charles Gasparino documents this well in Bought and Paid For. The Unholy Alliance between Barack Obama and Wall Street.

The article cites numerous sources.

The debt ceiling dispute is not forcing a compromise on this President, but is instead is viewed by him as a golden opportunity to do what he’s always wanted to do.

Obama … has done more to subvert and weaken the left’s political agenda than a GOP president could have dreamed of achieving. So potent, so overarching, are tribal loyalties in American politics that partisans will support, or at least tolerate, any and all policies their party’s leader endorses – even if those policies are ones they long claimed to loathe.

Idiocy, isn’t it? We are appalled by what you are doing but will support you anyway because the Republicans, if they take the presidency, will do the same thing.

It is a con. Mr. Obama has come to bury Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, not to save them. This was clear from the outset of his administration

This is a manufactured crisis. There are numerous other solutions to it, none of which Obama is using. (Yves Smith of Naked Capitalism discusses them in the video.) Rather, Obama is quite deliberately using it to gut the social net. He is refusing cuts that the Republicans have offered.
