BeatCarmageddon is a collaboration between Waze (a smartphone social traffic and navigation app) and ABC 7 in LA. They are teaming up to crowdsource alternative routes during this Carmageddon weekend in L.A. when 10 miles of a major freeway will be closed for repairs.

I asked friends who live in Santa Monica (which will be hugely impacted) what they are doing this weekend. Going to the beach, they said. It’ll be locals only and empty. No one will try to drive to Santa Monica this weekend.
