Beyond a reasonable doubt. Strauss-Kahn and Casey Anthony

Casey Anthony’s daughter is dead, and someone killed her. But there was no hard evidence linking Casey to the murder.

DSK says the sex was consensual. The maid has lied about matters in her past and is not considerable a reliable witness, especially when it’s essentially He Said, She Said.

The issue isn’t whether the defendants are dirtbags. Proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt is, especially in a murder case.

The media and blogosphere in general went way overboard on both cases, assuming guilt long before all the facts were in.

This blog will be a whole lot more careful about assuming guilt in the future.

And the French are correct about perp walks. They should be banned until after a conviction.
