Hawaii to run underseas cable to deliver wind power

Hawaii is looking to deliver nearly 400 megawatts of energy from wind farms on sparsely populated Molokai and Lanai to the most populous island, Oahu, via an undersea transmission cable to help meet the state’s ambitious clean energy goal of 70 percent renewables by 2030

Currently Hawaii produces 90% of its power from imported oil. This is hugely expensive and way carbon-unfriendly. Let’s hope the underseas cable gets funded and many wind farms are built.
