Solar Decathlon. Solar Gable home entry
More from the University of Illinois Gable Home site and Jetson Greene.
This is one entry in the Solar Decathlon on the National Mall, sponsored by the Depatment of Energy. All homes generate at least 90% of their own power and are super ultra green.
I am half-rooting for the house from the University of Puerto Rico. And I say “half” because all the students in that team are from the campus at Rio Piedras (San Juan suburb) and my Alma Mater is the campus at Mayaguez (an engineering school). Needless to say, we don’t get along 🙂
In past competitions the Puerto Rican team included Electrical and Civil Engineering students from my school, but this time around they do not… so… half-rooting. Yes, the feud runs deep.
