My sister does fund raising for health-related nonprofits. She’s long said that patients today really need to get involved in their own health care. Ask lots of questions. Do your own research. Be pro-active. The days of accepting unquestioningly what the doctor says is long gone, and they actually appreciate patients who are active in their own health care.
