Some say Madoff didn’t plead guilty to conspiracy because he wanted to protect his wife, two sons, employees, and friends. But does that make any sense? The feds, of course, are going to investigate and probably prosecute all of them anyway. So nothing was gained.
Except maybe that it gets them some extra time to hide the money, make arrangements, that sort of thing. Also, it’s my belief that Madoff has been organized crime for decades and powerful people in the shadows were helping and protecting him. That may be who he is really protecting. As always, follow the money. Where did it come from, and most importantly, where did it go. Because I think that’s where the organized crime links are. We need to know who is hiding in the shadows.
