Paper mills as biofuel source

BIOstock blog

The current combined output of heat, steam, and electricity made from combusting woody biomass and “black liquor” process residues make [paper] mills the number one source of renewable energy in the country – more than all other alternative energy sources combined (including hydroelectric).

This means paper mills could (and will) simultaneously eliminate much landfill dumping, save money by producing their own biofuel, and have new income streams by selling the excess. What’s more, much of what they already do can be easily adapted to create biofuel.
