Republicans in the California legislature ousted their leader at 1 am this morning after he said taxes might need to be raised in order to balance the budget.
No one wants higher taxes. But a budget needs to be passed. However the insane California law that requires a two-thirds vote for passage means a few deranged Republicans can block anything.
