Ground source heat pump in Connecticut

A home in Connecticut is heated and cooled by a ground source heat pump, which also provides much of the heating for hot water. Totals cost was $19, 283, about $3,000 more than a comparable oil furnace and electric air conditioning. Given that the house has nearly 3,000 sq. ft. of conditioned space, I’ll guesstimate the breakeven point is 7 years or so.
