GMail and backing up online email

Every now and then, GMail gets weird, and insists I re-login using an almost unreadable captcha. A couple of times I said my account was suspended but then presented a login with no captcha which worked fine. Which is more than a bit unnerving.

So, I wondered, how can I back up Gmail? It’d be nice to have a backup system in case GMail is down or I get locked out. As it turns out, it was easy. I imported all my addresses and email from GMail into Yahoo Mail then told GMail to forward all email to Yahoo, keeping a copy on Gmail. Thus, I now have two email systems, that with a little maintenance each week, will be in sync. Backups are always a good idea anyway.

  1. I believe the country has gone too far in the election process when it appears as a buy or bought election. I don’t believe a citizen should have to see how much they can raise and spend in order to be elected and I certainly don’t believe the process of campaigning should be any longer then 2-3 months. As for the spending, there should be a cap for all concerned, 2-3 million.
