I don't know... I look at Bristol Palin and I see "Bush Twins" written all over her. There is a lot of stuff out there that has not been covered by most of the Blogosphere. A lot of photos of drunken debauchery, drugs, etc. The fact that the father of Britol's kid has said he doesn't want kids. I ain't even gonna link to it because I don't want to go there and, obviously, Bob doesn't either. But there comes a time when someone has to say: "There is a lousy parent."

Oddly, the Christian Right seems to be bending over backwards to come to Palin's defense-- perhaps because she's the only one in the race that represents (however poorly) their values-- and, as VP pick for a 70+ candidate, she could become President.

You're right: I could care less about her daughter's personal life. But Focus on the Family's James Dobson said, "Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect, nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord." Family Research Council's Tony Perkins said, "Fortunately, Bristol is following her mother and father's example of choosing life in the midst of a difficult situation. We are committed to praying for Bristol and her husband-to-be and the entire Palin family as they walk through a very private matter in the eyes of the public." Michelle Malkin blames the Left for it coming out at all. Christian Coalition's Roberta Combs said, "It's a matter that should stay in the family and they have to work through it together." That doesn't sound like sharks circling.

While I note a certain level of what I'll politely call "irony" on the Right, I'm cynical enough to believe they know where their bread is buttered, and they're not going to shoot Palin down.

I am assuming you realize that Bristol Palin's alleged 5 month battle with mono is now being reported on heavily in the Blogs and media because of the announcement by the McCain campaign of Bristol Palin being pregnant?

I was quick to dump the alleged "Trig is Bristol's kid" story to dustbin of wacky and loony, but I did acknowledge the now proven fact that Bristol is pregnant seemed pretty credible.

I figure there is so much dirt on her already to make her pick as a VP candidate ridiculous that it didn't merit digging on as a real story.

And though you or I would not vote based on this info... You and I also know that there is a large segment of the population that will frown upon the lies, and also frown upon the pre-maritals involved. And they will further question Sarah Palin's squeaky image as a great mom. Etc. hypocrite ad infinitum.

There is still a whole hella lot more important stuff to write on besides this side story. The only aspect I see as credible to this is McCain's vetting of Palin. It is pretty clear that their campaign did not vet her properly with the huge pile of stories coming out.

I can see her suddenly dropping out because of "illness" or because she is having second thoughts on leaving Alaska without her "leadership" or some other scripted reason.

Palin's closet is rattling with way too many bones.
