A lot of his support (and presumably contributions) comes from geeks. Chris Pirillo got on early. Adam Curry is a big supporter. They like his libertarian message and geeks do know how to spread a meme on the net.
His message is clearly resonating and I predict he’ll do surprising well in at least some of the upcoming primaries.

Part of the Ron Paul phenomenon, of course, is that there are no other conservative candidates– just neo-liberal “neo-cons.” And the traditional conservative nessage sounds pretty good to many of us battered by decades of big-government, privacy-invading, debt-and-spend Republicans.
