Actually, he was criticising people for singling out Chavez as an anti-Marxist. In other words, he was doing the opposite of what you seem to say he was doing. Also, if Marxism really needs to be updated (and, truth to tell, Marxism looks more sensible to me with each passing week) then surely the best way to do it is through open debate, not so?
