Brave New Peace?

From John Robb, author of Brave New War

Working on the ideas for a second book (in the proposal stage) on superempowered individuals and their ability change things for the better. It picks up on the last section of BNW on rethinking security and runs with it.

Sounds like a must-read to me…

In another post Robb says Bloomberg will run. “Safe money based on conversations I have had. Going to throw the entire race into the wind.” Yes, a moderate who says he will spend one billion of his own money will indeed strike terror into the Republocrats.

Who would have EVER thought they’d do that?

The operational commander of US troops in Baquba says 80% of top al-Qaeda leaders left the city before the attack commenced. He calls this cowardice, apparently clueless of that basic tactic of guerrilla warfare, “when the enemy attacks, retreat.” Perhaps he spews such propaganda silliness for FoxNews at home, while his troops terrorize the innocent and blow up their homes, something which will just create more recruits for al-Qaeda.

There are plenty of smart, dedicated people in the military, so it’s difficult to understand why such relentless ignorance is allowed to prevail.

Racist plan by Australian PM denounced

The lunatic and racist PM of Australia just floated a plan to ban alcohol and porn from aborigines. They can’t handle it, says he. No mention was made of Anglo alcoholics and porno addicts however. This is just more of that White Man’s Burden garbage, which is simply nasty vicious racism pretending to want to help “savages” become more “civilized”

Quite rightly, many are sickened by his racist attempt to demonize a population. Oh, he didn’t bother to ask aborigine leaders for their input, but you assumed that anyway, right?

This was no doubt a re-election ploy by the PM, one which is now backfiring.

Update: It’s an attempt to grab the ancestral land of aborigines (see comments here too) . Capitalism and racism always have been partners.

Not deer ticks. Aphids

questing deer ticks

Photo taken in our backyard. Deer ticks crawl up plants, wait for something mammalian to pass by, hop on for a free ride and start munching. There were hundreds of them. Did I mention they are carriers of Lyme disease? Sue was convinced these were deer ticks but after posting about it on our gardening blog, it now appears they are red aphids not deer ticks.

It matters not, we’ve called in an air strike.
