Bush protest, New London CT

Several hundred protested Bush and the war(s) outside the Coast Guard Academy today in New London CT where he spoke at commencement.

Among the speakers at the antiwar rally were veterans of the Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam wars, parents of those killed in Iraq, as well as clergy and activists from all over New England.

Here’s a few photos. Video coming soon.

Dimbulbs of the Day Award

Two denizens of an alcohol and drug rehab decided to launch a phony bomb plot. One called police and said his friend had a bomb, hoping police would beat the suspect. They would then sue and get big bucks in a lawsuit.

I’m guessing they might not have been sober when they planned this.

While their scheme didn’t work, they will have fewer money worries for the next few years as they will be guests of the state, all expenses paid.

“My feeling is that 9-11 took all the humor out of bomb threats,” the prosecutor said.

Florida bans electronic voting

And goes back to paper ballots.

Good. May other states do the same. Or mandate that e-voting is auditable, secure, with a solid paper trail before using it. Because now, it’s obviously not.

Attention Casey Serin watchers

From Soem Dood

After tiring myself out trying to figure out what the heck this dude Casey Serin is actually up to, I finally found a place that catalogs his activities, history, associations, and purpose.

The site bills itself as “the leading semi-satirical wiki about foreclosure blogs”, and I’d say that’s accurate, given the predictably rather vertical market for “semi-satirical wikis on the topic of foreclosure blogs.” Still, it’s a good read.
