Democrats would make Iraq timetable in bill ‘advisory‘The compromise language would keep the deadlines included in the original House bill but make them nonbinding, as the Senate version did, and would allow President Bush to waive troop-readiness standards.
In other words, they’ve made the bill even more toothless while deciding it’s ok to sacrifice the lives of more US soldiers by insuring that ill-prepared troops will be sent to Iraq. For a party who took over based on a supposed antiwar agenda, they, with just a few exceptions, cravenly continue to support the war while pretending to oppose it.
It’s not just gutlessness, it’s complicity. Only a people’s movement can end the wars. Democrats, aren’t you tired of being backstabbed by your ‘leaders’?

“For those who aren’t aware, there was a genocide that did take place against the Armenian people. It is one of these situations where we have seen a constant denial on the part of the Turkish government and others that this occurred. It has become a sore spot diplomatically.” - Barack Obama
April 25 will mark the 92nd anniversary of the Armenian genocide, which will be marked by commemorations worldwide.
Several governors have declared the day to be a remembrance of the genocide and 40 states have recognized it, as has the New York Times. It is long past time for it to be recognized officially by the US government, despite D.C. troglodytes who would ignore the deaths of 1.5 million rather than offend Turkey.

A new government regulation will kill Net radio dead as of May 15 unless it is reversed. Licensing fees have been almost tripled and made retroactive to 2006. If this regulation goes into effect, then Net radio as we know will no longer exist.
This is not a false alarm. It will happen unless we take action
From Pandora founder Tim Westergren in an email.
Understand that we are fully supportive of paying royalties to the artists whose music we play, and have done so since our inception. As a former touring musician myself, I’m no stranger to the challenges facing working musicians. The issue we have with the recent ruling is that it puts the cost of streaming far out of the range of ANY webcaster’s business potential.
If they kill net radio, you can bet Clear Channel and the rest will move in and replace it with the same mindless drek that’s on their radio stations now. This is pure and simple a power grab by corporate interests to destroy what they view as competition and to replace it with their own programming. Let’s stop them.
SaveNetRadio has complete information and a petition to sign to send to your Congressmembers. Take action now.
