Six giant turbines are being placed underwater in the East River around New York City. They will use the strong tidal surge to produce power. One has already been installed and is supplying power to nearby businesses. The turbines were developed by Verdant Power, who are looking at installing these low-impact, sustainable energy devices worldwide.
