What the masses of Sri Lanka desperately need is a working-class movement which recognizes only class differences. And then which unites all the workers against these manipulators and finalyy ends the material basis of this internecine warfare. THAT is the basis of REAL peace. Not this feel-good idealist nonsense so beloved of the Western middle-class activist... Mohandas Gandhi didn't bring peace to the Subcontinent: he brought the Partition of India (c/o his sponsors, the conniving British imperialists who preferred Gandhi's petit-bourgeois Peace movement to the communist alternative) -- and today's communalist violence, chauvinism and nuclear balance of terror.
