From the ANSWER LA ‘Unite to Defeat the Bush Program’ rally yesterday in Pershing Square, a young boy goes after a piñata with a picture of Alfred E. Bush on it.

The rally was great. Lots of music and spoken word; hip hop, blues, rock, thrash, as well as speeches. Multiple coalitions participated and everyone renewed their contacts and alliances for what’s looking like a fast-moving, important summer of action. Just in the next few weeks are actions against Schwarzenegger speaking at the Santa Monica College commencement, a protest against the head of the Minutemen in Garden Grove, and the nationwide actions at Posada Carilles’ deportation hearing – to name just a few. Plus we’re starting now to build for the big antiwar rally in downtown L.A. on Sept. 24.
