Quote of the day!

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called United States President George Bush an “asshole” on Sunday for meddling, and vowed never to quit office like his Haitian counterpart.

Schwarzenegger ok with gay marriage…

Schwarzenegger ok with gay marriage law change

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said on national television Monday night that it would be “fine with me” if state law were changed to permit same-sex marriages.

In an interview with Jay Leno on NBC’s “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” Schwarzenegger also strongly rejected President Bush’s call for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. “I think those issues should be left to the state, so I have no use for a constitutional amendment or change in that at all,” he said.

It occurs to me a President Kerry might be a lot like Governor Schwarzenegger, not much different on corporate, financial, military, and foreign policy issues, but demonstrably less loony and more liberal on domestic social issues.

Aristide and Las Vegas

Aristide and Las Vegas

Mon 9 pm: BBS World News, lead story. Aristide: US forced me to leave

Ditto for the NY Times and Washington Post, although they bury somewhat Aristide’s claims he was kidnapped while the BBC leads with it.

Y’know, the Bushies might have a point here. If you don’t like what someone is doing, heck, just invade them! Matter of fact, as a Californian, I’m getting severly honked off by Nevada greedily hogging all that gambling money (and water). We’ve told them to give us some, but those democracy-hating Nevadans still refuse to do so, what gall!

So, I’m calling on all Californians to cross the border into Nevada, and occupy Las Vegas. We will liberate it from them and give it to us. And they’ll thank us for it one day, you just wait!

(First thing we do, we blow up all the hotels. No, wait, they’re already doing that aren’t they? Hmmm…)

It lives…

It lives…

Corel just announced the launch of … WordPerfect 12!

For you young pups and newbies, back when brontosaurus roamed the planet (this was even before Microsoft Windows was invented), WordPerfect was the unquestioned champion of the DOS word processor heap.

“What’s DOS, grandpa?”

“Well, little Johnny, DOS was what everyone had on their computers before Windows. After the computer booted, the only thing you could see was the command prompt. You typed commands. There was no mouse.”

“Eeuuuw.”

Lawyers, in particular, ran WordPerfect. I’ve no doubt many law firms are still cheerfully running DOS versions of WordPerfect. And now, after everyone thought it was dead and gone, WordPerfect comes back one more time.

Could the granddaddy of them all, Wordstar, be next???
