General says Iraq is a “guerilla war”
“The commander of US troops in Iraq says coalition troops are facing a classic guerrilla war following continuing attacks that show no sign of letting up.
New Central Command chief General John Abizaid also said American forces must adapt their tactics to crush an increasingly organised, cell-based resistance led by loyalists to the former regime.”
He is also quite cranky about US troops who dare complain about being lied to and misled.
“The new U.S. war commander today took exception with American soldiers who, angry over extended tours of duty in Iraq, criticized Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in televised interviews on ABCNEWS.
“None of us that wear this uniform are free to say anything disparaging about the secretary of defense, or the president of the United States,” said Gen. John Abizaid, the head of U.S. Central Command.”
Touchy, touchy…
He may have been referring to U.S. soldiers who have created their own Most Wanted decks, “The aces in my deck are Paul Bremer, Donald Rumsfeld, George Bush and Paul Wolfowitz.”
When your own troops hate you, I’m guessing things have gone badly astray.
