Remember those Iraqi ‘mobile germ…

Remember those Iraqi ‘mobile germ labs’?

You remember them, the ones Bush and Blair proudly proclaimed proved that Iraq had WMD, right? Well, yet again, it appears King George and his British poodle Tony have been fibbing to us.

“The Observer has established that it is increasingly likely that the units were designed to be used for hydrogen production to fill artillery balloons, part of a system originally sold to Saddam by Britain in 1987.

Tony Blair faces a fresh crisis over Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction, as evidence emerges that two vehicles that he has repeatedly claimed to be Iraqi mobile biological warfare production units are nothing of the sort.

The intelligence agency MI6, British defence officers and technical experts from the Porton Down microbiological research establishment have been ordered to conduct an urgent review of the mobile facilities, following US analysis which casts serious doubt on whether they really are germ labs.

The British review comes amid widespread doubts expressed by scientists on both sides of the Atlantic that the trucks could have been used to make biological weapons.

It is not possible they didn’t know this. It is becoming clear they have been continually lying about this and are now getting trapped in their own lies.

This is a perfect issue to organize on. It could spell the end of Bush.

Captives deny al Qaeda Worked…

Captives deny al Qaeda Worked with Iraq

“Two of the highest-ranking leaders of Al Qaeda in American custody have told the C.I.A. in separate interrogations that the terrorist organization did not work jointly with the Iraqi government of Saddam Hussein, according to several intelligence officials.

Abu Zubaydah, a Qaeda planner and recruiter until his capture in March 2002, told his questioners last year that the idea of working with Mr. Hussein’s government had been discussed among Qaeda leaders, but that Osama bin Laden had rejected such proposals, according to an official who has read the Central Intelligence Agency’s classified report on the interrogation.”

Zogby poll for NH: Kerry,…

Zogby poll for NH: Kerry, followed by Dean

“Massachusetts Senator John Kerry is the most popular Democratic presidential candidate in New Hampshire polling by Zogby International for the state’s primary election next January, followed closely by former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, 25% - 22%.  Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman was a distant third at 10%”

Dean and Kerry are in a statistical tie for first place, with Dean having gained ground quickly, compared to the previous poll.

Interestingly, all three candidates, Dean, Kerry, and Lieberman, are New Englanders, with New Hampshire also being in New England. Thus any “favorite son” influence on the poll can be ruled out, as they are all favorite sons.

I grew up in Connecticut. In New England, more than in other part of the country, a person’s religion is considered a personal, not a political matter - and that religion is best kept out of politics. Dean is especially strong on this issue, saying “I want my country back”.

Wind powered beer

Wind powered beer

From the Viridian mailing list

Loft Beer, a 100 percent wind-powered beer from Colorado with a kite on the label.  A little tart and hoppy for my taste, but it’s kinda growing on me.  I’ll go buy more.”
