The Sky I Scrape

The Sky I Scrape

A Pearl Jam website, The Sky I Scrape, picked up my photo of Eddie Vedder taken at the Sat. Hollywood march to CNN. They delivered a whopping 750 hits to this site yesterday. Today, they’ve already matched that number, and it’s only 9:20 AM here.

Wow. Thank you Pearl Jam and friends!

And thank you Eddie Vedder for singing your anti-SUV song at the demo!

Update: As of 9:40 pm, we’ve gotten over 1700 hits today from the Pearl Jam site!

Battle tactics

Battle tactics

A reporter asks Tommy Franks:

“In the beginning of the war, so-called coalition forces claimed taking full control of Umm Qasr, then Nasiriyah, and yesterday Basra; and apparently, it seems now, it’s not correct,” the reporter declared.

“Are you practicing a strategy of lies and deception, or have you just been trapped by Iraqi army?”

Now we are saying our plan was to head to Baghdad all along, ignoring the smaller towns in the south. If that’s true, why did we try to take them?

There was little Iraq resistance the first few days of the war. Perhaps this was deliberate, to sucker us in, to wait for the supply lines to be long and spread out, then to attack?

We blow up a Syrian bus with a missle, killing several civilians, then blame Saddam for it - a truly demented piece of propaganda and lies.

“The US military has confirmed that a bus carrying Syrian civilians was hit by an American missile, killing five people and wounding at least 10.

However blame for the incident was ultimately placed on the Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein. ‘We regret the loss of innocent life brought on by this regime’s non-compliance of UN resolutions,’ the statement added.”

Uh huh, and war is peace and bombs are smart. Right.

The Raging Grannies

The Raging Grannies

From Michael in SF comes this photo from the Saturday demo and a reminder of the Rolling Stones lyrics.

“I went down to the demonstration / To get my fair share of abuse / Singing we’re gonna vent our frustration / And if we don’t we’re gonna blow a 50 amp fuse.”

Resistance in southern Iraq

Resistance in southern Iraq

“An ABC clip from a special tonight threw possible light on why opposition is so strong in southern Iraq: according to a former CIA analyst, Iranian Shia told Shiites in region to resist US at all costs, that Iran could be next; this raises spectre of Iranians and others sending in fighters to resist US-British invasion; the Bush chickenhawks have opened several cans of worms and a big Pandora’s Box….” From Blog Left
