U.S. and Britain Hint at Delaying Proposed Iraq Deadline. Facing almost certain defeat at the U.N., the U.S. and Britain signaled today that they would extend for a short period a deadline for Iraq to disarm or face war. (AP).”

How completely clueless. As if those opposed to a vote for war by March 17 would somehow change if the deadline was March 21.

Every lunacy has a champion…

Every lunacy has a champion to defend it

MMinnesota Rep. angers Gays, Jews, African-Americans with comments.

“Minnesota State Representative Arlon Lindner (R-Corcoran) is well known for being outspoken and politically incorrect. In the past he’s called a Jewish state legislator “irreligious” and referred to Bhuddism as a “cult” on the occasion of the Dalai Lhama’s visit to Minnesota. But his latest comments have managed to anger gays, Jews, and African-Americans. Lindner, the sponsor of a bill that would roll back civil rights protection for gay and lesban Minnesotans, originally got himself into trouble on Friday, when he argued that gays were not sent to concentration camps by the Nazis.”[Political State Report]

Lindner apologized for not also offending Native Americans, Asians, and Latinos, saying he’d get to that next week. He then paused and asked “What’s a Latino?”.

Go to Google

Type “French military victories” with the quotes and press “I’m feeling lucky”.

(Google, if they haven’t fixed it yet, replies to the search saying “We have no French military victories, Would you like to search for French military defeats?

Could this be a clever hack by those same people who have been pouring French wine down the drain and renaming French fries to Freedom fries?)

Software pioneer quits board of Groove

“Mitchell D. Kapor, a personal computer industry software pioneer and a civil liberties activist, has resigned from the board of Groove Networks after learning that the company’s software was being used by the Pentagon as part of its development of a domestic surveillance system.

Kapor was the original author of the Lotus spreadsheet, founder of the ground-breaking Lotus Corporation, and a co-founder of the Electronic Freedom Foundation. He is a tireless organizer for computer privacy and opposed to onerous government surveillance. In other words, a certifiable good guy.

And how groovy of Groove to want to spy on us all. Email Groove and let them know how you feel at feedback@groove.net

Daddy Bush spanks Dubya about…

Daddy Bush spanks Dubya about war plans

The first President Bush has told his son that hopes of peace in the Middle East would be ruined if a war with Iraq were not backed by international unity.

He also urged the President to resist his tendency to bear grudges, advising his son to bridge the rift between the United States, France and Germany.

Although not addressed to his son in person, the message, in a speech at Tufts University in Massachusetts, was unmistakeable.

Mr Bush Sr even came close to conceding that opponents of his son’s case against President Saddam Hussein, who he himself is on record as loathing, have legitimate cause for concern.

Annan says U.S. will violate charter if it acts without approval

Secretary General Kofi Annan warned today that if the United States fails to win approval from the Security Council for an attack on Iraq, Washington’s decision to act alone or outside the Council would violate the United Nations charter.

So if Bush does attack Iraq without U.N. approval, then that makes him, quite literally, a war criminal.
