Scott Ritter is a conservative…

Scott Ritter is a conservative Republican.

I heard Scott Ritter speak today. He believes the “rule of law” should always be followed, and the US government is not following the rule of law as regards Iraq.

As signatories to the UN Charter, the US is obliged to follow that charter, and it specifically rules out “regime change” as a reason for war. Also, article 1441 only mentions disarming Iraq, and nothing about regime change or invasion. Thus, Ritter concludes, the U.S. government is violating the rule of law, and this disgraces all Americans, including those in uniform.

As a leftie, I learned much from his conservative viewpoint in opposition to the coming war. His opposition is Constitution and rule of law based, spoken as a conservative Marine who is deeply patriotic and feels his country is being abused and led astray by our government, a government who is ignoring the law.

Spammer gets poetic justice!

Spammer gets poetic justice!

From the Detroit Free Press

Internet spammer can’t take what he dishes out.

West Bloomfield bulk e-mailer Alan Ralsky, who just may be the world’s biggest sender of Internet spam, is getting a taste of his own medicine.

Ever since I wrote a story on him a couple of weeks ago, he says he’s been inundated with ads, catalogs and brochures delivered by the U.S. Postal Service to his brand-new $740,000 home. (DARN!)

It’s all the result of a well-organized campaign by the anti-spam community, and Ralsky doesn’t find it funny.

“They’ve signed me up for every advertising campaign and mailing list there is,” he told me. “These people are out of their minds. They’re harassing me.” “Several tons of snail mail spam every day might just annoy him as much as his spam annoys me,” wrote one of the anti-spammers. [Privacy Digest]

Blix blindsides Bushies

Blix blindsides Bushies

The UN weapons inspectors will edit the Iraq report before giving it to the Security Council to prevent it being used as a bomb building manual.  The report is 10,000 pages, so it will unquestionably take quite a while to review and edit it. That sound you hear is the Bushies choking with anger…

On the eve of Iraq’s official declaration on weapons of mass destruction, the United Nations Friday announced the document will not be given to the U.N. Security Council — which demanded the declaration — until weapons inspectors have examined it and possibly even edited out parts.

A Western diplomatic source told CNN the Security Council agreed to the procedure partly because the United States, Russia, and other countries are concerned about releasing information that would provide “a training manual for how to build weapons of mass destruction.”

Venezuela strike gets serious

Venezuela strike gets serious

Two people dead. Major strikes in key industries. Their oil industry is nearly been shut down - which will spike world oil prices within a few days. A polarized populace. Those who want President Chavez to go tend to be middle and upper class and white, while those supporting Chavez tend to be lower class and brown. An explosive mix.

Chavez is a reformer, and he’s made serious enemies,, not the least of whom is the U.S. One coup attempt failed, I suspect another is coming quickly.
